New Guide for Speech Development Published for Early Childhood Education Centers in Turkmenistan
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – In alignment with Turkmenistan’s educational development goals, the Ministry of Education has released a new guide titled “Assessing the Speech Development of Preschool Children Aged 3-5”. Developed by L. Legedina and A. Çaryýewa, the guide is now available to early childhood education centers across the country.
With a focus on enhancing children’s language skills and preparing them for school, this handbook introduces practical methods to assess and develop language abilities in preschool-aged children. Language proficiency is recognized as a fundamental component of early childhood development, closely linked with cognitive and social growth. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has emphasized the importance of these foundational years, which form part of the national agenda to support children’s healthy, holistic development.
The guidebook, which includes vibrant illustrations to aid in assessments, provides educators, specialists, and even parents with structured steps to evaluate and support children’s speech and language progress. It covers a variety of areas, including early language milestones, speech mechanics, breath control, and sound articulation.
By addressing potential language gaps, the guide aims to improve the accuracy of early diagnosis and support targeted interventions. This tool will enable professionals to guide children in enhancing their communication skills, a key step toward school readiness.
