Digital Economy Discussed at International Conference

On April 21, 2026, an international scientific conference titled “Independence of Turkmenistan: The Celebration of Science and Innovative Technologies” was held in Turkmenistan. The event took place in the conference hall of the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, bringing together a large number of experts from both Turkmenistan and foreign countries.

During the conference, participants exchanged views on the current state of science and technology, as well as their future development directions. At the opening ceremony, Durdymyrat Gadamov, Director of the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and Doctor of Chemical Sciences, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in scientific development.

Several foreign experts also participated online. Oleg Aleksandrin from the Russian Federation spoke about the development directions of innovative economics. Zhang Xiao and Xiang Wei from the People’s Republic of China highlighted the importance of scientific and technical cooperation and joint projects in the field of microbiology.

Digital economy issues became one of the key topics of the conference. Russian expert Aleksei Soluyanov presented proposals related to the State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026–2028. Gulnara Abisheva from Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of training specialists and expanding expert capacities in this field.

The conference also included presentations on healthcare, information technologies, and the service sector. Representatives from Türkiye, Enkhbaatar Uliibayar and Jem Gözener, discussed the role of digital technologies in healthcare services. Georgian expert David Iordanishvili highlighted opportunities for expanding international cooperation through digital systems.

Energy and industry were also key topics of the conference. Experts from Türkiye, Abdullah Örs, Nedim Baral, Orhan Gün, and Zafer Türkoglu, spoke about innovative approaches in the oil and gas sector and new methods for efficient use of raw materials.

Representatives of Turkmenistan’s business sector also took part in the conference. One of them, Haknazar Haljanov, Director of “Döwletli Nesibe” Economic Society, Coordinator of the Youth Entrepreneurs Center under the Ashgabat City Committee of the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, and IT expert, emphasized the growing role of the private sector in the development of the digital economy. He particularly noted the impact of innovative technologies on entrepreneurial activity and the importance of expanding opportunities for young people in the IT field.

During the conference, participants discussed the development of scientific and technical cooperation, the implementation of new innovative projects, and experience sharing. In the concluding remarks, it was emphasized that international cooperation plays an important role in the scientific and technological development of Turkmenistan.

According to experts, such international conferences not only strengthen scientific relations but also open up new opportunities for economic development.
