National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov delivered a general lecture at the Ruhyýet Palace in Arkadag City to mark Knowledge Day and Youth and Students Day and the beginning of the new academic year. The event brought together young professionals, university rectors, teachers, students, schoolchildren and media representatives.
The lecture covered two main areas. The first focused on Turkmenistan’s domestic and foreign policy, while the second addressed the role of young people in society, patriotism, education, national values and modern technologies. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of young people strengthening the achievements already made and taking an active part in implementing programmes for the country’s future.
Particular attention was given to Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and its role in promoting peace, dialogue, good-neighbourly relations and international cooperation. The country’s initiatives in preventive diplomacy and dialogue of trust were also highlighted.
The economic part of the lecture focused on transport, energy and international trade. The TAPI gas pipeline, Trans-Caspian transport routes and the concept of the “Revival of the Great Silk Road” were among the topics discussed. It was noted that the implementation of TAPI could create more than 12,000 jobs in Afghanistan.
Modern technologies and artificial intelligence were also discussed. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the growing need for educated specialists with innovative thinking and proposed involving young people and students in the development of the “Smart Society” concept. He also highlighted plans to strengthen international cooperation in education and innovation and develop international scientific and educational youth clusters.
National history, cultural heritage and moral education formed another important part of the lecture. Young people were encouraged to study their national history and traditions, while the role of families and teachers in forming responsible and well-rounded individuals was emphasized.
The National Leader also highlighted the importance of modern education and professional development. He noted that new educational institutions are opened at the beginning of each academic year and that schoolchildren taking their first steps into education receive computers. This year, new buildings of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Ashgabat and the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seýitnazar Seýdi in Türkmenabat were opened, along with new schools and kindergartens.
At the end of the lecture, young people were wished success in their studies, work and future careers. The event underscored the importance of education, patriotism, respect for national values, hard work and the responsible use of modern technologies in the development of the younger generation.
