A new 5,000-seat campus of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering has opened in Ashgabat, adding a major modern facility to the capital’s higher-education infrastructure.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended the opening ceremony, held on the Day of Knowledge and Students. The new complex was built by a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
Covering 32.2 hectares, the campus includes a 13-storey main building, eight faculties and 28 departments, as well as a library and assembly hall.
A 2,600-place dormitory has been provided for students, alongside two 40-apartment residential buildings for teaching staff.
The institute’s new laboratories are equipped with advanced international equipment for seismic research, construction, electromechanics and chemical analysis. Among the highlights is a seismic testing system capable of simulating earthquake vibrations on scaled building models.
The campus has also received five ISO certificates covering quality, environmental management, occupational safety, educational organizations and information security. It is the first higher education institution in Turkmenistan and the CIS to be certified simultaneously under these five standards.
The institute has additionally received international accreditation as a Certiport Authorized Testing Center, opening opportunities for internationally recognized digital skills certification.
The new campus is set to become a key training and research center for future architects, engineers and construction specialists in Turkmenistan.
