Turkmenistan and Malaysia Sign New Cooperation Agreements

ASHGABAT — Turkmenistan and Malaysia signed a package of agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation during the official visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Turkmenistan.

The documents were exchanged following high-level talks between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and covered areas including transport, science, education, and diplomatic cooperation.

Among the key documents were an Air Services Agreement between the governments of Turkmenistan and Malaysia, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia, and an agreement on cooperation in diplomatic training and scientific exchange.

The sides also signed a memorandum between the Türkmenhowaýollary Agency and Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport aimed at strengthening collaboration in civil aviation.

In addition, representatives of Türkmennebit and Türkmengaz concluded agreements with PETRONAS Çarigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd., reinforcing cooperation in the oil and gas sector.

Officials described the agreements as an important step toward broadening the bilateral agenda beyond energy and creating new opportunities in science, technology, transportation, and human resource development.
