Turkmen school students achieved outstanding results at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2026), held in Shanghai, China, from July 10 to 21, winning one silver medal and three bronze medals.
According to the official results, Agaperman Berdimyradov, a 12th-grade student at Secondary School No. 40 in Yolöten District, Mary Province, received the silver medal.
The bronze medals were awarded to Begench Akmyradov, a 12th-grade student at Specialized Secondary School No. 49 in Ashgabat, and to Mälikşa Meylismyradov (Grade 12) and Hemra Gurbanov (Grade 10), both students of Specialized Secondary School No. 86 in Ashgabat.
This year’s Olympiad brought together 685 talented students from 119 countries. Turkmenistan was represented by a national team of six students.
The achievement demonstrates the high level of mathematical training among Turkmen students and reflects the positive outcomes of the country’s ongoing efforts to modernize education, implement innovative teaching methods, and create favorable conditions for the development of gifted youth.
