The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is currently on a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. During this visit, he participated in the opening ceremony of the monument to the great poet and philosopher of the East, Magtymguly Fragi, in Astana.
The celebration took place during the international celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, highlighting the deep cultural and spiritual ties between the two fraternal peoples, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
The monument to Magtymguly Fragi in Astana stands at about 8 and a half meters tall, depicting the great poet and philosopher in full growth. The sculptor captured the image of Magtymguly Fragi in a moment of creativity, with a pen in his right hand, appearing to touch a symbolic sheet of paper. The surrounding area of the monument is landscaped and green.
Additionally, in Ashgabat, on May 17th, a monument to Magtymguly Fragi and the cultural and park complex “Magtymguly Pyragy” were opened with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. This project was implemented on the initiative of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, featuring a dedicated poem “Pähim-paýhas ummany Magtymguly Pyragy” to the founder of national classical literature. The new park, situated in the foothills of Kopetdag, also features sculptures of famous artists from different countries, including Kazakhstan, symbolizing friendship and brotherhood among peoples, themes that Magtymguly sang of in his immortal poems.
