The merchant marine fleet of Turkmenistan is increasing cargo and passenger traffic

In January-June 2023, the total volume of cargo transportation by ships of the merchant marine fleet of Turkmenistan reached 1.15 million tons. This indicator has increased by 31.4 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2022, the press service of the fleet reports. Thus, in the first half of this year, 132.2 percent of the plan for cargo transportation by sea merchant fleet was fulfilled.

In the first six months of 2023, cargo turnover was 476,838 million tons, which is 28.7 percent more than the same period last year. In the corresponding period, the plan for cargo turnover was fulfilled by 230.8 percent.

Passenger traffic during the reporting period is the same as the corresponding period of the previous year in comparison, it increased by 100.8 percent and exceeded 3.7 million passengers/km. In general, the implementation of the plan in this area reached 234 percent.

As for the land, there are 20 ships operating in the merchant marine fleet of Turkmenistan. The main activities of the sea fleet include the transportation of goods by water, the transportation of passengers, vehicles, dry cargo, oil and petroleum products, as well as administrative services.
