Playing chess blindly on 30 over boards is an incredibly difficult test of the limits of the human brain – pushing the limits of human capabilities.
It is the lot of extraordinarily gifted people to keep in mind, without looking at the boards, an incredible amount of the arrangement of pieces in the head and to convey these moves using oral chess notation to their opponents.
For the entire more than 2 millennium of the history of chess, only 6 (six) chess players in the world have managed to surpass this record (30 or more games). Among them is our compatriot-Turkmen chess player Allayar Shirliev.
Having played blindly against 40 opponents (July 18, 2021), Allayar became the 1st in the world in terms of rating among chess players under 18 years old and 4th in the world among adults.
To strengthen his chess game, Allayar practiced blindfold from the age of 8 as a child, and by the age of 17 he achieved his current high results.
Allayar, having played 40 blindly games, came close to the world record of 48 games played in 2016 by the American grandmaster Timur Gareev, who entered the Guinness Book of Records!
As Allayar told us, the Turkmen chess player Muhammad As-suli achieved the first blindfold record in the 9th century. At that time he was the best in the world not only in classical chess, but also in the blindfold world.
Nobody managed to surpass his record of 10 games in flesh until the 19th century. So, following in the footsteps of his compatriot, Allayar intends to play 50 blind games in Ashgabat in the next 2 or 3 months and surpass the world record of Timur Gareev.
After setting a world record, Allayar intends to compete with the best chess of all time, the world champion Norwegian Magnus Karlson and Timur Gareev on 30 boards in the blind. This unprecedented triumph match will serve to further widespread promotion of the development of chess throughout the world. This is how the result of 40 blind games for Allayar Shirliev, a student of the Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Shohrat Muratkuliev, came out 31 games, drew 8 games, lost 1 game to sports master Turaev Shakhrukh with a rating.
