UN unanimously approves holding LLDC conference in Avaza

The United Nations has unanimously approved a resolution to hold the third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) in Turkmenistan. The conference is scheduled to take place from August 5 to 8, 2025, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. This decision was announced during the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, as reported by the Watan Habarlary news program on Saturday.

Following the announcement, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, sent a congratulatory message to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, extending his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.

In his message, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also highlighted the importance of this development in enhancing Turkmenistan’s global reputation.

It is important to note that 32 landlocked developing countries, with a combined population of over 500 million, share similar challenges due to their lack of direct access to the sea, which affects their economic integration with the rest of the world.
