Political talks between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan were conducted in Dushanbe

On November 20, 2024, political consultations were held between the Ministries of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan in Dushanbe. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov led the Turkmen delegation, while Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Imomi Sodiq Ashurboyzoda headed the Tajik side. During the consultations, both sides discussed the political and diplomatic relations between their countries, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regular contacts at the highest levels. They highlighted the significance of collaboration within regional and international organizations, particularly the United Nations.

The diplomats acknowledged the effectiveness of the partnership between the foreign ministries, praising the relationship established under the current program of cooperation between the two countries. They also addressed matters related to developing the legal framework for their bilateral relations.

The discussions included an assessment of trade, economic, and investment partnerships. Both parties recognized the need to improve conditions for enhancing ties in these areas, specifically regarding the increase of export-import transactions and the expansion of goods and services exchanged.

Additionally, the delegations focused on the cultural and humanitarian aspects of cooperation, noting the positive experiences in science and education. They agreed to continue organizing cultural and scientific exchanges.

During his visit to Tajikistan, Deputy Minister Gurbanov also met with Tajikistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sirojiddin Muhriddin. In this meeting, they discussed a wide range of topics concerning Turkmen-Tajik collaboration, as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest.
