Turkmenistan held an international scientific conference titled «Turkmenistan – the centre of ancient civilisations»

Yesterday, the national museum “Ak bugdaý” hosted an international scientific meeting titled “Turkmenistan – the Centre of Ancient Civilisations,” which was held to celebrate the 95th birthday anniversary of outstanding scientists, archaeologists, winners of the International award named after Magtymguly Vadim Masson and Victor Sarianidi. Turkmen and Russian researchers attended the forum organized by the National Department of Turkmenistan for the Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments. The Turkmen state has acknowledged the significant contributions of Russian archaeologists to the study of the history of Turkmenistan. Academicians Vadim Masson and Victor Sarianidi were both awarded the International award named after Magtymguly and other state awards. Their works have been widely published in the country, and their discoveries have been included in school textbooks on ancient history.

Participants of the event highlighted the two joint Turkmen-Russian archaeological expeditions created by the National Department of Turkmenistan for the Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments in partnership with two institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences: the N.N. Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology in Moscow, and the St. Petersburg Institute of History of Material Culture.

The participants expressed their gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people for their efforts in developing the interaction in the study and preservation of world historical and cultural values, which includes monuments and invaluable archaeological finds unearthed in Turkmenistan.
