Turkmen tennis player won a silver medal in an International Tournament

Ilima Guseynova, a 14-year-old tennis player from Ashgabat, secured a silver medal in doubles at the recently concluded international tournament known as the ‘Selangor Asian 14 & Under Grade A (Southeast Asia)’ in Malaysia.

Partnering with Hana Shabanpour from Iran, Ilima, a 9th-grade student at Ashgabat’s specialized secondary school No. 42, achieved this remarkable success.The tournament took place in Bandar Baru-Enstek, Negeri Sembilan, and brought together 64 young athletes from various parts of Asia.

Ilima Guseynova, Turkmenistan’s women’s singles No. 1, ranks among the top four tennis players in Asia under 14 years old. She gains her sports skills at the ‘Ashgabat’ Tennis Academy, guided by Turkmenistan’s national team head coach, Mirali Gasanov.

Notably, in the singles category, the Turkmen athlete advanced to the quarterfinals, successfully navigating the group stage, 1/16, and 1/8 final rounds
