The opening ceremony of the 5th International Theatre Festival, titled “Theatre Art of the Era of Happiness”, was held in the capital yesterday. The international cultural event brought together theatre representatives, performers and arts enthusiasts from Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Armenia.
The festival opened with performances highlighting the cultural traditions of different countries and the diversity of theatrical art. A ceremonial parade of creative groups and literary and artistic performances took place in the squares in front of the Mollanepes Student Theatre and the Main Academic Drama Theatre. The programme also featured theatrical performances, musical acts and excerpts from stage productions showcasing different aspects of Turkmen culture and art.
As part of the festival, theatres across the country are scheduled to present productions in various genres. A working meeting involving theatre directors and creative professionals will also be held to discuss the development of theatre arts, the exchange of experience and opportunities for expanding international creative cooperation.
The festival’s closing ceremony, including the announcement of its results and the awarding of participants, is scheduled for November 8.
The international theatre festival provides an opportunity to discover the cultural and artistic traditions of different nations, exchange creative experience and encourage greater interest in theatrical art.
