225 Convicted Citizens Pardoned on the Occasion of Independence Day

On September 25, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via video communication, during which issues of national importance were discussed.

Opening the meeting, the Head of State emphasized the consistent continuation of the noble tradition in Turkmenistan — granting pardons to citizens convicted of crimes who have repented and sincerely asked for forgiveness. In this regard, Secretary of the State Security Council and Head of the Presidential Commission on Citizenship and Pardons, B. Gundogdyyev, presented a report on the work carried out in connection with the upcoming 34th anniversary of Independence.

After hearing the report, the President announced that he had signed a Decree granting amnesty to 225 convicted citizens on the occasion of Independence Day. The President instructed Secretary of the State Security Council and Minister of Defense B. Gundogdyyev, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies, to ensure the prompt release of all pardoned individuals so that they may soon return to their families.

The President also wished the pardoned citizens to dedicate themselves to honest labor, to serve the beloved Homeland with sincerity, and to enjoy the benefits of a life built on integrity and diligence.
