The President of Turkmenistan participates in the XVI BRICS Summit

Today, on the second day of his working visit to the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is participating as an honorary guest in the XVI BRICS Summit in Kazan, which is being held in an expanded format for the first time.

In the morning, President Berdimuhamedov visited the venue of the high-level forum at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre. After a joint photo session, the heads of delegations from over 30 foreign countries, along with leaders from international organizations such as the UN, SCO, and CIS, as well as the President of the New Development Bank, took part in the plenary session of the XVI BRICS Summit in the “outreach” or “BRICS Plus” format.

As previously reported, BRICS was established in 2006 during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and has since become one of the most authoritative and influential global structures. Cooperation within this interstate association is based on principles of sovereign equality, mutual consideration of interests, openness, and consensus, making it attractive to other countries around the world.

Given the increasing interest from potential partners, the “BRICS Plus” format was created as a platform for constructive dialogue on global issues in today’s world. A notable example of this is the focus on sustainable development and mutually beneficial economic cooperation, with priorities set during annual summits and high-level multilateral meetings.
