Turkmenistan plans to export electricity to Kyrgyzstan

On July 24th and 25th, 2024, the Sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical, and Humanitarian cooperation took place in Cholpon-Ata.

The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by the Minister of Energy A. Saparov, and the Kyrgyz delegation, headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry B. Torobaev, discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector. Both parties emphasized the positive nature of their cooperation.

They also recognized the importance of deepening cooperation in energy, agriculture, culture, tourism, and sports. At the end of the meeting, the final protocol of the Sixth meeting was signed, along with an exchange of documents in the field of electricity imports from Turkmenistan to the Kyrgyz Republic for the year 2025.
