In 2023, Turkmenistan is expected to export products worth 15.6 billion US dollars. This was stated in the regional economic forecast for the Middle East and Central Asia published by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in early May.
IMF also estimates that Turkmenistan’s imports will reach 9 billion US dollars in 2023.
In addition, IMF estimates that in 2024, Turkmenistan’s exports will be worth 15.1 billion US dollars, and its imports will be 9.9 billion US dollars.
According to IMF’s regional economic forecast for the Middle East and Central Asia, last year Turkmenistan’s exports amounted to 15.6 billion US dollars, and its imports amounted to 8.5 billion US dollars.
The IMF report predicts that the combined GDP of Central Asia and the Caucasus will decrease to 4.2 percent in 2023, compared to 4.8 percent in 2022, and will increase to 4.5 percent in 2024.
