Turkmen freestyle wrestling sensation, Alp Arslan Begenjov, has added another gold medal to his growing collection. The young athlete triumphed at the Asian Under-20 Championships held in Siracha, Thailand from July 16 to 24.
Guided by experienced coach Batyr Orazgylyjov, Begenjov dominated the 79kg weight category, defeating a field of 11 competitors. He secured his place in the final with impressive victories over Shunsuke Mizusaki (Japan), Ramazan Iskanderov (Kyrgyzstan), and Erkhan Beksultanov (Kazakhstan). In the championship match, he clinched the gold with a decisive 10-0 win against Majid Bagheri Kheirabad.
India’s Amit Amit and Kazakhstan’s Erkhan Beksultanov earned bronze medals in the 79kg division.
This latest achievement adds to Begenjov’s impressive resume. Just a month prior, he earned a bronze medal at the Asian U23 Championships in Amman. Previously, he claimed gold at the Asian Cadet Championships in 2022 (65kg) and bronze in 2023 (71kg).
