Turkmen Agricultural University hosted benchmarking on Drip irrigation

Implementation of Drip irrigation technologies was discussed at the latest gathering of weekly benchmarking sessions hosted by Turkmen Agricultural University named after S. A. Niyazov.

Today, the scarcity of drinking water remains one of the most critical problems for the future of humanity.  This leads to the development of new ways of reducing it in industry, the public sector, and agriculture.

Irrigation of crops is one of the most responsible activities for every professional engaged in farming in our country.  At this point, each tenant has to work out the best way to supply water to his crops as well as to control the water supply.  In the past, the country used to irrigate agricultural fields through streams.  Nevertheless, in recent years, in the period of rapid development of science and technology, the drip irrigation method is used in many cultivated fields of our country.

The theme of the conference, held every Saturday at our university was drip irrigation of orchards.

The first to speak was Rahym Atayev, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, and an expert of the “Guneshli Mive” economic society.  In his speech, the expert talked about the methods of drip irrigation of orchards such as apples, pears, peaches, and plums grown in the economic community.  Here, the visitor introduced the equipment used in drip irrigation and their usage rules.

Then the meeting was continued by businessman Nuryagdy Pirliyev, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, who spoke about the economic and ecological advantages of drip irrigation with the method of stream irrigation.  The businessman also noted that drip irrigation is convenient for growing almond trees on his land.  At the end of the scientific-practical conference the lecturer of the Department of Agricultural Improvements of our university, Suleiman Mammetmyradov, gave a speech and explained the theoretical principles of drip irrigation.  The teacher also said that the possibility of salinization of cultivated land is increased in the irrigation of streams, noting that the main thing is not to water the soil, but to water the plant.  After the presentations, the participants discussed among each other and shared their experiences.  They also approved the topic of the next scientific-practical conference with the participants of the conference under the name “Digital crop monitoring in agriculture”.
