Turkmen–Romanian scientific roundtable highlights cooperation in equestrian science

On April 22, 2026, an international scientific roundtable was held in a hybrid format at the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest, jointly organized with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, according to Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The event brought together representatives from the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University and the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Academy named after A. Annayev, along with experts from leading Romanian institutions, including the Bucharest Agrarian University, the Ion Ionescu de la Brad University of Life Sciences in Iași, the State Stud Farm, and the Zetea Veterinary Clinic.

The roundtable was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and the national motto of the year. Speakers emphasized the importance of developing national horse breeding, highlighted achievements in equestrian sports, and underlined the high level of Turkmen–Romanian cooperation in science and education.

Discussions focused on advancing the equestrian sector, improving its economic efficiency, ensuring sustainable management, and exploring modern trends in veterinary science and livestock development. The achievements of the “Galkynysh” national equestrian games group were also presented.

Participants viewed thematic presentations and video materials, and an exhibition showcased the cultural significance of Turkmen horses. The event concluded with recognition of its role as an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding the exchange of experience.
