Turkmen–China Subcommittee Holds 9th Humanitarian Meeting

The 9th meeting of the Subcommittee on Humanitarian Cooperation within the framework of the Turkmen–Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation was held in Beijing. The meeting was co-chaired by G. Sh. Myradaliyev, Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan, and Gao Zhen, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the PRC.

The parties discussed priority areas of humanitarian cooperation and confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China.

Education and Human Capital Development

Within the educational framework, particular attention was given to academic mobility, the quality of personnel training, and the further institutionalization of cooperation. According to data for the 2025–2026 academic year, over 7,000 Turkmen citizens are studying at universities in the PRC.

  • The parties considered proposals to improve candidates’ academic readiness for studies and the possible pilot testing of preliminary assessment mechanisms.
  • Prospects for expanding cooperation in the training of specialists in priority areas were discussed.
  • The importance of developing joint projects, including the establishment of competence centers and joint laboratories, was highlighted.

Chinese Language and Academic Cooperation

Proposals were considered to enhance the professional development of Chinese language teachers and to jointly prepare educational and methodological materials.

Interest was also expressed in expanding participation in scientific conferences and Olympiads, as well as supporting publication activities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed on the final formulations and signed the Protocol of the 9th meeting, confirming the next steps for the development of humanitarian and educational cooperation.
