New models for university-industry collaboration discussed in Ashgabat

Fifth Session of International Conference Focuses on Technological Innovations and Workforce Training in Turkmenistan’s Industrial Sector

The fifth session of the international conference titled “Technological Innovations and Training of Personnel for Construction, Industry, and Energy in Turkmenistan” took place on November 5, 2024, in Ashgabat. The event centered on advancing Turkmenistan’s industrial sector through technological innovation and skilled workforce development, aligned with initiatives championed by National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to bridge education, science, and production.

Deputy Minister of Education Azat Atayev presented a proposal to introduce an entrepreneurial model in universities aimed at commercializing student research and establishing industrial councils. These councils would facilitate collaboration between universities, employers, and government agencies, enhancing students’ career readiness and driving innovation.

Universities presented successful projects in biotechnology, renewable energy, and digital technology, inviting business partnerships to foster joint projects that could benefit the national economy.

This session underscored the importance of strengthening university-industry links to enhance Turkmenistan’s economic competitiveness.
