During the 25th plenary meeting of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the resolution titled “Central Asia – A Zone of Peace, Trust, and Cooperation,” initiated by Turkmenistan, was unanimously approved. This was announced by Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Vice Premier, the resolution received co-sponsorship from the majority of UN member states, as well as all regional countries, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.
Meredov also updated the meeting on preparations for the upcoming session of the Strategic Advisory Council “Turkmenistan – United Nations,” which was established with the support of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in March 2024.
A preliminary draft Action Plan has been prepared, outlining international and regional initiatives related to the UN Resolution “2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust,” which will be reviewed at the forthcoming session.
President Berdimuhamedov approved the proposals for the next Council session and instructed the Vice Premier and Foreign Minister on specific agenda items.
Additionally, several other priority issues concerning national governance were discussed during the government meeting.
