Turkmenistan was elected to the Commission on Population and Development

Turkmenistan was chosen by all the members of the United Nations group to be on the Commission for Population and Development for the next four years. This happened during a meeting on December 5, 2023. This was reported by MFA of Turkmenistan.

With the Council’s members’ strong support, Turkmenistan will continue to be a part of the Commission for the next few years, from 2016 to 2020 and then from 2020 to 2024.

The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) is an important group within ECOSOC. It helps coordinate and advise on issues related to population, statistics, and global policies in national and regional programs.

The main office of the commission works under the Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

Every year, people from Turkmenistan’s State Committee on Statistics go to meetings in New York.
