Yesterday, an international investment forum organized jointly by the State Concerns “Türkmengaz” and “Türkmennebit” as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan began its work in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The event was reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.
The forum has become an important platform for cooperation, bringing together representatives of international energy companies, experts, and structures involved in the oil and gas, construction, transport, communications, and financial sectors, as well as international organizations and scientific institutions. Its main objective is to attract direct foreign investment into Turkmenistan’s key economic sectors and to strengthen regional cooperation in the energy sector.
The agenda includes discussions on investment opportunities in hydrocarbons, the oil and gas industry, and other key sectors. During the session titled “New Investment Opportunities in Turkmenistan’s Energy Sector: Natural Gas and Monetization”, participants were introduced to the development of Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy complex, including the staged development of the “Galkynysh” gas field and the significance of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline.
Additionally, investment opportunities in construction, transport, information technology, and communication systems were reviewed. The session also highlighted one of Turkmenistan’s flagship urban development projects — Arkadag City — the first “smart” city in Central Asia, presenting its development progress and international recognition.
The expansion of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia creates broad opportunities for the implementation of new joint projects in energy, transport and communications, innovative urban development, tourism, and other fields. The forum serves as an effective platform for strengthening cooperation and promoting joint initiatives. Participants gave a high assessment of the event’s effectiveness, expressing confidence that the forum would make a significant contribution to elevating economic relations between the two countries to a new level.
