From April 13 to 15, 2025, the President of Turkmenistan visited Japan and attended the “EXPO – 2025” World Exhibition in Osaka. As part of the visit, the President took part in ceremonial events dedicated to the National Day of Turkmenistan, and officially opened Turkmenistan’s national pavilion at the exhibition.
The Turkmen national pavilion, presented under the theme “Inspiring a Good Future,” attracted special attention. Its architectural design amazed visitors with its uniqueness and was arranged in an eco-friendly style. The pavilion reflected the historical eras of the Turkmen people, their applied arts, and cultural heritage.
During the National Day of Turkmenistan at the exhibition, the President held a meeting with Mr. Endo Toshiaki, Head of the Japan-Turkmen Interparliamentary Friendship Group. They discussed various aspects of Turkmen-Japanese relations.
As part of the visit, the President also held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The President noted that Turkmen-Japanese cooperation is successfully developing in multiple formats, particularly within the framework of the “Central Asia – Japan” dialogue. This dialogue is an effective form of multilateral cooperation and covers regional economic projects in areas such as agriculture, transportation, and investment.
As a result of the negotiations, 15 documents were signed. These covered a wide range of cooperation areas including environmental protection, education, industrial production, construction of water facilities, taxation, and investment.
The relationship between Turkmenistan and Japan, based on mutual will and equality, is a clear example of result-oriented and mutually beneficial cooperation. In modern historical conditions, both sides remain committed to traditional friendship, forming a fundamentally new model of partnership based on equality of national interests and development priorities.
