UNDP facilitates trade development in Turkmenistan

Ashgabat, 26 May 2021: The joint project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan “Strengthening the Trade Capacity of Turkmenistan” delivered series of online trainings on the application of advanced information and marketing technologies in trade in five velayats of the country.

Representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, and Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan participate in the training.

The purpose of conducted a series of online trainings on the application of advanced information and marketing technologies in trade is to promote the expansion of the country’s export potential through advanced training of specialists working in the field of trade regulation of Turkmenistan.

“The topic of the online training is relevant as the world community is increasingly switching to the use of advanced information and marketing technologies in domestic and international trade”, emphasized Mr. Rovshen Nurmuhamedov, UNDP Assistant Resident Representative in Turkmenistan.

Mr. Ravinder Raina, international expert in training and advising government and private entities around the world presented various tools of advanced information and marketing technologies that are practiced at the international level to stimulate retail and wholesale trade within the country, as well as to promote exports to reach international potential customers for manufactured products of Turkmenistan.

During the training participants discussed international best practices in information and communication technologies application in commerce, market-oriented approach to marketing, marketing strategy, e-commerce concepts, transactional flows in e-commerce, global trends in e-commerce, features of business models, e-marketing tools, strategic pillars of e-commerce and framework for e-commerce development. At the end of the training participants were awarded corresponding certificates.

Through the joint project, UNDP is committed to strengthening trade in Turkmenistan bringing best international practices and experienced professionals and consultants from all over the world.  For that purpose, series of actions to improve capacity of the national trade experts and specialists of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan and other relevant national trade organizations were planned. The goal of these activities is to increase the competitiveness of national staff and transform human intelligence into the leading factor of economic growth and national competitiveness, diversification of export and increasing the share of higher value-added products in export composition and lowering the share of import in the national economy.
