Industry Leaders Address Turkmen Students on Skills and Global Education

Industry Leaders Speak at Turkmen State Finance Institute on Education, Skills, and Global Opportunities

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – As an extension of the Halk Maslahaty, representatives from various industries gathered at the Turkmen State Finance Institute to address students and their parents on the evolving landscape of higher education and employment. The event highlighted the importance of international university exchanges and the increasing demand for both academic qualifications and practical skills in the modern job market.

Among the key speakers was Merdan Atayev, an IT consultant and social activist, who underscored the importance of mastering both hard and soft skills. “In a world where degrees alone no longer guarantee employment, it’s essential for young people to combine technical expertise with interpersonal skills,” Atayev stated, emphasizing how this combination opens doors to diverse career paths in an increasingly interconnected world.

The event underscored the message that quality education today goes beyond diplomas, focusing on comprehensive skills training to prepare students for success in the global workforce.

The gathering served as an invaluable opportunity for students and parents alike to hear from industry leaders about the shifting expectations of the professional world. Speakers stressed the importance of a balanced approach to education, where academic knowledge is complemented by practical skills development. In his address, Merdan Atayev noted that “as more people hold degrees than ever before, it’s critical to stand out by mastering both technical and interpersonal skills.”

Rahymberdi Kerimov, representing the Central Committee of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of grounding education in Turkmenistan’s rich traditions and customs. Kerimov highlighted that commitment to cultural values plays a key role in fostering ethical responsibility among young people, noting that respect for heritage complements modern skills and academic achievement. His words underscored the message that true education not only prepares students for career success but also instills a strong sense of ethical and cultural identity, essential for future leaders in Turkmen society.

These meetings are an extension of the Halk Maslahaty, chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen Nation on September 24th in Ashgabat. During this significant national gathering, directives were issued to develop strategic approaches for educational reforms aimed at enhancing the quality and relevance of education across Turkmenistan. The focus was placed on aligning educational practices with both global standards and Turkmenistan’s cultural heritage, fostering a generation that is both technically skilled and ethically grounded. This series of follow-up discussions serves to bring those strategic goals to life, engaging educators, industry leaders, students, and their families in shaping the future of Turkmen education.
