Turkmenistan Participated in the 42nd Meeting of the TÜRKSOY Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture

A Turkmen delegation headed by Minister of Culture Atageldi Shamyradov took part in the 42nd Meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TÜRKSOY, held on November 28, 2025, in Aktau, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2025. The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere and allowed for a comprehensive discussion of key issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations, the Turkmen MFA reports.

The Council approved the activity and financial reports of the TÜRKSOY Secretariat for the reporting period and reviewed Kazakhstan’s information regarding the implementation of the Cultural Capital program.
The Council also heard a report from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture proposing Andijan as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2026 and presented the plan of upcoming activities.

Furthermore, the Secretariat was instructed to prepare a draft document on strengthening and developing the organization, following the decisions of the 12th Summit of Turkic Culture, and submit it to member states for review. The final adoption of the document is planned for the next Council meeting.

The strategic document of TÜRKSOY for 2026–2028 and the Work Program for 2026 were approved. According to the decisions made, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture will serve as the Temporary Coordinator for 2026, and the 43rd Council Meeting will be held in Andijan.

During the closing ceremony of “Aktau – Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025,” a cultural program showcasing the rich heritage of the Turkic world was organized. The title of the 2026 Cultural Capital was officially transferred to Andijan.
