Ashgabat, December 10 – President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Natalia Gherman, Executive Director of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate. The meeting focused on counter-terrorism, ensuring international security, and Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality as a foundation for stability in Central Asia.
Ms. Gherman congratulated the Turkmen people on the International Day of Neutrality and highlighted the country’s exemplary global initiatives promoting peace and development. She also expressed her gratitude for being awarded the commemorative medal dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy, the great poet and thinker of the East.
President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to strengthen its strategic partnership with the UN and develop new areas of cooperation. Particular emphasis was placed on exchanging expertise and enhancing legal mechanisms in the fight against terrorism.
This meeting marks a significant step toward bolstering Turkmenistan’s role in promoting peace and security regionally and globally. Both sides agreed to continue joint efforts in these critical areas.
