Turkmenistan has assumed the chairmanship of TURKSOY

Turkmenistan has taken over the chairmanship of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY).

The official handover ceremony occurred on May 16, 2024, during the 10th meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO of the TURKSOY member countries in Ashgabat. The chairmanship transitioned from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan, as reported by newscentralasia. Secretary General of TURKSOY, Sultan Raev, presented the symbol of chairmanship to Mrs. Chinar Rustemova, the executive secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.

Mrs. Rustemova, who has extensive diplomatic experience, previously served as Ambassador of Turkmenistan to India and China, with her early career focused on the cultural sphere. She will lead TURKSOY on behalf of Turkmenistan.
