Alparslan Bayraktar: “An agreement has been reached on the supply of Turkmen gas to Turkey through Azerbaijan and Georgia”

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar, and the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikhail Jabbarov, signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of natural gas between Turkey and Azerbaijan on May 14 in Istanbul.

At a press conference after the ceremony, Bayraktar said that the agreement signed today provides for the supply of additional volumes of natural gas from Azerbaijan and the Caspian region to Turkey, as well as to Europe through Turkey.

“In addition, we agreed on the supply of Turkmen gas through Azerbaijan and Georgia to Turkey,” the minister added, as reported by the TRT channel.

He noted that the two countries jointly implemented many projects, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, which plays an important role in the supply of Azerbaijani oil, as well as oil from the Caspian region and the Caucasus to Turkey and through Turkey to world markets.
