Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is to improve relationships with neighboring countries. This policy was started by the National Leader of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and is being successfully carried out by our Arkadagly Hero Serdar. In order to achieve this goal, Turkmenistan’s foreign policy has focused on building strong relationships with neighboring countries in the region. Turkmenistan has worked hard to create a friendly and trusting atmosphere while also trying to form mutually beneficial partnerships.
The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, said that Türkiye is a friendly and brotherly country to Turkmenistan, and their relationship is very important.
Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye started to have diplomatic relations on February 29, 1992. The people of Turkmenistan and Turkey have a lot in common historically and culturally. They also have a tradition of trading and helping each other. They have similar views on important international and regional topics, which helps them have a good relationship as neighbors. The Turkmen-Turkish government committee on economic cooperation, which started in 2007, is a helpful way for them to work together and decide what is most important for their cooperation.
Over the years, the two countries have worked together positively and gained valuable experience from their actions. A collection of approximately 170 official letters signed between Turkmenistan and Turkey at different levels of government and departments covers many important areas of cooperation. These letters are the basis of the relationship between the two countries. For a long time, Türkiye has been Turkmenistan’s main trading partner and is at the top of the list when it comes to trade. In 2021, the things Turkmenistan sold to Turkey increased by more than 50%, and the things Turkey sold to Turkmenistan increased by more than 27%. Because of this, the total value of trade between the two countries was $1,911 million.
The leader of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, is currently visiting Turkey. This visit will help strengthen the bond between Turkmenistan and Turkey and bring new opportunities for cooperation and friendship.
