Turkmenistan particitaped Asia-Pacific Urban Forum (APUF-8)

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea, B. Durdyyev, attended a conference called the Eighth Asia-Pacific Urban Forum (APUF-8). The conference took place in Suwon city, the Republic of Korea, from October 23rd to 25th, 2023.

More than 1,800 people from different government levels, organizations, and sectors attended the Forum. The main goal of the three-day Forum was to bring together new ideas, unite efforts, and form partnerships to achieve long-lasting progress in city development.

One important thing that happened at the Forum was the APUF-8 High Level Session. During this session, ministers and senior officials from UN ESCAP member States gave a statement.

At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed on a statement about sustainable urban development in Asia-Pacific. The message aims to encourage Asian and Pacific cities to lead in moving forward and making advancements. This text talks about the importance of improving city and land planning, involving different levels of government in addressing climate resilience, creating policies that include vulnerable groups, creating a supportive environment for urban financing, and using digital technology to improve cities. The statement also calls on governments to speed up their efforts on the Sustainable Development Goals, Paris Agreement, and New Urban Agenda.
