Turkmenistan increases gas export to Azerbaijan through Iran

Iran, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed an agreement in 2021 allowing the exchange of gas up to 2 billion cubic meters per year.

Iran has held talks with Turkmenistan on gas imports. This was reported on Saturday by the Tasneem agency, citing the director of integrated planning of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hossein-Ali Mohammad-Hosseini.

“Gas exchanges from Turkmenistan have doubled,” Hossein-Ali Mohammad-Hosseini said at a meeting on the company’s investment opportunities.

In 2023, the export of Turkmen natural gas to Azerbaijan by the exchange method increased by 358 percent compared to the previous year.
