The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, participated in ceremonies at the Islim-Çeşme border crossing in Serhetabat, to mark the opening, groundbreaking, and start of construction for new infrastructure projects.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed the participants via digital system, emphasizing the significance of the Serhetabat–Herat segment, known as “Arkadagyň ak ýoly,” which is part of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. The project also includes related power transmission, transport, and communication systems and is expected to benefit neighboring countries and the region as a whole.

Additionally, a 177-meter railway bridge constructed on the Turkmen-Afghan border was inaugurated with a freight train carrying humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. This further enhances the historical ties of friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness between the two nations.
