The Turkmenistan delegation will participate in the International Tourism Exhibition “Silk Road in Xi’an-2024,” taking place from August 9 to 11 in Xi’an, China, according to Asmannews.
Leading the delegation is Akiniyaz Agamuradov, head of the Tourism Department at the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
Xi’an, a significant industrial, business, cultural, educational, and tourist hub in China, has been chosen as the venue for the event. Historically, this city was both the starting point and destination for trade caravans traveling along the Great Silk Road through Central Asia, connecting China with the region’s nations.
Xi’an is also a sister city to Mary, Turkmenistan, a city through which the historic Silk Road once passed. The sister-city agreement was signed in May 2014.
