The 18th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission was held in Tashkent

On July 16, 2024, the 18th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific-Technical, and Cultural Cooperation took place in Tashkent.

Representatives from Turkmenistan, including heads of ministries and agencies led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Atdayev, and a delegation from Uzbekistan, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Zh. Khodzhaev, attended the meeting.

During the gathering, the two sides discussed the progress made on agreements from their previous meeting. They emphasized the importance of ongoing and positive communication between the leaders of both nations to enhance Turkmen-Uzbek relations across various areas of mutual cooperation.

Topics discussed at the commission meeting included expanding trade and economic collaboration, reinforcing industrial cooperation, and enhancing bilateral relations in energy, transportation, and transit. The parties also exchanged ideas on cooperating in agriculture, water management – focusing on water resources in the region, environmental protection, and scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed to document the outcomes of the 18th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission.
