The thriving international seaport in Turkmenbashy plays a key role in both the economic and visual landscape of Turkmenistan, adding beauty to the Caspian Sea coast. Working alongside this vital port is the modernized Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Plant, a major contributor to the country’s water transport industry.
This powerful facility is equipped to handle large-scale steel processing, new ship construction, and repairs for a wide range of vessels. Currently, the plant operates at a brisk pace, conducting technical examinations and repairs (both minor and major) on cargo ships, passenger vessels, oil tankers, service vessels, and other floating equipment.
The plant caters to its customers’ specific needs by manufacturing required equipment, parts, tools, and materials on-site. Additionally, they offer uninterrupted processing of metal parts of various sizes. The quality of their work, meeting advanced production requirements and modern standards, has earned them significant customer loyalty.
The plant boasts efficient production lines for steam boilers and compressors. Interestingly, they also contribute to the country’s agricultural sector by repairing used suction pumps, crucial for greenhouse cooling equipment, reservoir expansion, and improved water pipeline efficiency.
Yhlas Osmanov, Deputy Head of the Technical Development and Regulation Department at the plant, provided an update on their recent activities. Since the beginning of the year, their specialists have completed a major overhaul of the tugboat “Caspian Mainport Limited,” now sailing the Caspian Sea. Currently, their repair teams are busy with vessels belonging to the “Türkmendeňizderýaýollary” agency, the “Deňiz söwda floty Hazar” joint-stock company (transporting oil and petroleum products), the “Saparmyrat Ataýewiç Nyýazow” dry cargo transport company, and the dry cargo vessel “At-abraý.” They are also effectively repairing the ship “Marco Polo.”
The plant’s ongoing productivity and success in delivering high-quality work highlight their advanced development and commitment to excellence.
