Lecturers and students from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan completed a training course titled “Global Connections: Diplomatic Training in Politics, Culture, and Economy of the UAE” at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA). The course was organized with the support of the UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan. About report Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

Throughout the training, various topics were covered, including Turkmenistan-UAE relations, climate change, and the cultural and economic prospects of the UAE. On the first day, Turkmenistan’s diplomatic academy representatives attended a lecture by Dr. Saeed Al Shamsi on the history and culture of the UAE. Moustafa Bayoumi, a Research Fellow at AGDA, presented on the outcomes of climate change discussions (COP Outcomes). Obaid Al Dhaheri, Head of Middle East Policy at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Sara Chehab, Senior Research Fellow at AGDA, discussed UAE foreign policy and economic matters.

As part of the cultural program, the Turkmen guests toured historical sites and museums in Abu Dhabi. These memorable excursions offered participants the opportunity to explore the UAE’s cultural diversity. Notable visits included the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan Presidential Palace, and Qasr Al Hosn, landmarks tied to the events that shaped the UAE’s sovereignty and rich culture.

With the participation of Ahmed Al-Hay Hamad Khamis Al-Hameli, the UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan, students also visited the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), where they gained valuable insights into current developments and prospects for trade relations between the UAE and Turkmenistan, along with investment opportunities in the UAE.

The educational program not only enhanced the Turkmen students’ understanding of UAE diplomatic protocols, politics, economy, and culture but also helped them improve their intercultural communication skills. The participants expressed sincere gratitude to the UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan and AGDA for facilitating their visit. Both parties reiterated their commitment to furthering cooperation in education and diplomacy and organizing similar events in the future.

It is important to note that the collaboration between the two institutions has been productive, based on mutual interests and the Memorandum of Understanding signed in November 2022 between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy.
