Tesla opened”Gigafactory” near Berlin, the first in Europe

Electric car manufacturer Tesla has opened its first European factory. “Gigafactory” opened two years after the start of construction.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and German Economy Minister Robert Habeck attended the opening ceremony of the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, which located in the city of Grünheide, east of the German capital.

The company says its new “Gigafactory” will employ 12,000 people and produce 500,000 cars a year. Initial production will focus on the Tesla Model Y compact SUV.
