In 2025, Turkmenistan significantly strengthened the political and legal foundations of international cooperation. Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov stated this during his speech at the ceremonial event titled “The Year of International Peace and Trust: Confident Steps of Neutral Turkmenistan.” About this report, Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
One of the year’s key outcomes was the unanimous adoption by the UN General Assembly of several resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan. The fact that dozens of countries co-sponsored these documents serves as clear evidence of Turkmenistan’s high international standing and credibility.
Rashid Meredov drew special attention to the resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 15, 2025. Among them, the resolution “The Key Role of Reliable and Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Ensuring Sustainable Development” is aimed at strengthening global energy security. Another resolution, “United Nations Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035),” defines strategic directions for the development of international transport corridors in the coming decade.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, these resolutions are not merely declarative in nature but include practical, action-oriented measures. In particular, they provide for an analysis of the current state of energy and logistics systems, the work of UN specialized mechanisms established at Turkmenistan’s initiative, and the creation of frameworks that integrate cooperation at national, regional, and global levels.
The adopted documents have formed a solid legal basis for advancing international energy and transport connectivity. Thus, Turkmenistan has once again reaffirmed its role as an active center for developing global solutions in the field of sustainable development.
