Students Explore Turkmenistan’s Natural Wonders Through Museum Visit

Interactive Museum Tour Promotes Ecological Awareness Among Schoolchildren

ASHGABAT — A captivating and educational tour was organized for schoolchildren at the Nature Museum of the State Museum under the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan. The initiative, led by the public organization “Ecological Movement of Turkmenistan,” aimed to foster environmental consciousness and a deeper appreciation for nature among the younger generation.

Students from various schools in Ashgabat, as well as children visiting the capital from different regions of the country, took part in the tour. Guided by a museum expert, the participants explored a wide range of exhibits showcasing Turkmenistan’s diverse natural landscape.

The students learned about the Earth’s formation, the evolution of living organisms, global climate zones, and the distinct geographical features of Turkmenistan—including its mountains, deserts, plains, lakes, rivers, and coastal ecosystems. Exhibits featuring the country’s rich biodiversity, rare minerals, and protected natural reserves sparked strong interest.

One of the tour’s highlights was the meteorite that fell in the Derýalyk village of Köneürgenç in 1998, which fascinated the young visitors and spurred lively discussions.

This cultural-educational event was designed to instill a love for nature, broaden ecological awareness, and highlight the importance of environmental protection.

Founded on November 12, 1998, the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan serves as a major cultural institution in the country. It houses a wide collection covering national history, nature, ethnography, and contemporary achievements. The museum plays a key role in educating youth and promoting Turkmenistan’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
