On May 14, 2025, the Institute of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the official Closing Ceremony of the International Scientific-Practical Conference titled “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan: Cooperation for the Sake of Peace, Safety, and Sustainable Development”. This event was held alongside the awards ceremony for the II International Competition “International Relations: Culture of Peaceful Dialogue.”
These international events were organized within the framework of Turkmenistan’s Concept of Priority Directions for the scientific and educational sector, and in alignment with the UN resolution “2025 – the Year of International Peace and Trust”—a resolution initiated by Turkmenistan itself. The occasion also marked significant anniversaries: the 80th year of the United Nations and the 30th year of Turkmenistan’s neutrality. A major aim of the events was to promote youth talent, foster international friendship, and encourage a culture of dialogue and cooperation.
Participants included representatives from academic and higher education institutions around the world—among them the United States, Belgium, Iran, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, China, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Romania—as well as faculty from Turkmenistan’s own higher education institutions.
The conference concluded with reports by section leaders on key thematic areas: “Peacebuilding Principles of Neutrality Policy: Turkmenistan’s National Experience,” “Economic Diplomacy as an Effective Tool for Sustainable Development,” “Cultural Diplomacy and the Universal Value of Humanitarian Principles,” and “Global Approaches to Training International Relations Specialists: Research, Education, and Teaching.”
During the ceremony, results of the II International Competition were announced: participants were awarded a total of 21 gold, 35 silver, and 54 bronze medals. Notably, students of the National School of Turkmen Diplomacy earned 2 gold and 3 silver medals. This was followed by an official awards presentation honoring the winners.
