During an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow officially declared 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”
This initiative aligns with Turkmenistan’s tradition of dedicating each year to significant events and goals. The Mejlis of Turkmenistan (Parliament) proposed this theme, inspired by the poem “Turkmenistan is the Birthplace of Peace and Trust” by National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and inputs from the Halk Maslahaty, public organizations, and citizens.
The resolution emphasizes enhancing Turkmenistan’s global profile, promoting domestic and foreign policy, and marking the 30th anniversary of the nation’s permanent neutrality. During the Cabinet meeting, Mejlis Chairwoman D. Gulmanova read out the formal decision approving the theme and its emblem.
Promoting Peace and Neutrality
President Berdimuhamedow highlighted the significance of Turkmenistan’s neutral status in fostering international peace and trust. He announced the creation of a state-level organizational committee to oversee events related to the “International Year of Peace and Trust.” The Halk Maslahaty will lead these efforts to ensure their success.
Turkmenistan has consistently contributed to global peace and stability, evident in its role as Vice-Chair of the 79th UN General Assembly session and initiatives like “2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust” and “Central Asia – Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation.”
