In preparation for joining the World Trade Organization, the Turkmen delegation, consisting of employees from the State Customs Service, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, and the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, participated in a training session on the specifics of conducting negotiations to access the goods market. The training took place from October 7th to 11th in Geneva. About this report Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
Specialists involved in the WTO accession process from Azerbaijan, the Bahamas, Bhutan, Belarus, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, and Uzbekistan also attended the training. The program included lectures, practical assignments, and roundtable discussions.
Through interactive exercises, participants practiced effective negotiation techniques to coordinate the country’s positions with partners, considering standard WTO conditions. They also discussed developing clear formulations for obligations related to tariffs and services. The negotiation process for joining the World Trade Organization involves a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings on tariffs, agriculture, and services.
