In October 19-20, 2023, a group of people from Turkmenistan led by the Minister of health attended a conference in Geneva. The conference was about population and development and was organized by the United Nations.
During the conference, a report was presented that represents a five-year review of the UNECE regional situation. This report and past reviews showed that countries have made progress, created good plans, and developed effective programs in this area.
The leader of Turkmenistan talked about how they are carrying out programs to help people and achieve good healthcare. They are also working on improving reproductive health services by getting better medicine and equipment. They mentioned that the population and housing census in December 2022 is important for planning and monitoring.
On October 20, the Turkmen delegation met with the Deputy Executive Director of the UNFPA, Diena Keith, as part of their visit. They talked about current collaboration and decided on important things they need to focus on in the coming future.
