The “Arkadag Dawn” International Film Festival took place at the Aman Gulmammedov State Drama Theatre in Arkadag City on October 14-15, as per the official media in Turkmenistan.
The State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography of Turkmenistan organized a special event for the first time. This event brought together creative people from Central Asia who work in the film industry.
People from different government departments, organizations, the media, photographers, residents, and visitors of Arkadag city, as well as actors, directors, producers, and famous people from the film industry in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkey, and France, were present at the film festival’s opening ceremony.
Some of the foreign guests at the international event included people like Dilshodbek Usmanov, who is in charge of the film industry in Uzbekistan; Elena Norkunaite, who works for a Russian TV channel; Ihsan Nurullah Kabil, who is a movie critic; Israfil Kurulay, who is a director; Mehmet Bozdag, who started his own film company; and actors like Burak Özçivit, Ozcan Çağrı Şensoy, Fatih Ayhan, Yigit Uçan, Murat Boncukci, Edouard Montoute. There were also Jean-Marie Laronze, who is a producer, and people from a French company called Monde et Media.
At the event, the theater teams of Turkmenistan showed a play called “Oguz han. ” They also played traditional songs from Turkmen films and movies from other countries. The cultural event also had a film festival where movies from different countries were shown.
On October 15, the winners of the International Film Festival were given awards during a ceremony on the last day of the cultural event.
The people at the International Film Festival got a nice message from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. In the message, he thanked them for taking care of the cultural sector and making sure they had everything they needed to work well.
Next year, the Korkut Ata Film Festival will take place in the Turkmen city of Anau. This is because Anau has been selected as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024.
