Cooperative Central Bank (Koopbank) Celebrating 101st Anniversary of the “International Day of Cooperatives”.

According to the statement made by Koopbank, International Cooperatives Day will be celebrated this year with the theme of “Cooperatives for Sustainable Development”. The purpose of the International Day of Cooperatives; In the statement, which stated that “raising awareness on cooperatives and promoting the movement’s ideas of international solidarity, economic efficiency, equality and world peace”, the statement said that cooperatives in Cyprus, which have been going on for more than a century, have a wide range of fields, from agriculture and livestock to traders’ unions and the financial field. It has been noted that it has served thousands of people across the spectrum. There are 217 registered cooperatives in the country.

In the statement, which stated that there are 217 registered cooperative companies in Northern Cyprus, the following was noted: “Our country’s cooperatives actively continue their activities in areas such as finance, agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, production development and marketing. In addition to these, women’s cooperatives established in parallel with the trend seen in the world in recent years also come to the fore. Women’s cooperatives especially contribute to the development, diversification and marketing of local production, increasing the added value of products and supporting sustainable development.”
